Photorealism: late 1960s-1970s
Photorealism developed in the United States and Britain during the 1960s and 1970s. It was a movement in which commonplace scenes were illustrated in a meticulously detailed and exacting style, and for this reason it was also often referred to as ‘super-realism’.
