Naive art is characterized by a simple approach that uses non-scientific perspective, bright colours, and often, a very literal depiction of imaginary scenes. Although not following any particular movement or aesthetic, naive painters have been a continuing international phenomenon and influence since the beginning of the twentieth century. Henri Rousseau was one of the most renowned naïve artists who used this style whilst another leading practitioner was Grandma Moses.
