Gillian Furlong prints & canvases
Biography
Gillian Furlong was born in Kingston-upon-Thames and studied at Epsom School of Art and Camberwell School of Art and Crafts, being awarded the David Murray Landscape Prize by the Royal Academy in 1968 while still a student. She has exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition since 1969, and at galleries in Wiltshire and Gloucestershire as well as in the south- east.
The great majority of her work is in oils and Gillian says that she finds much of her inspiration in the countryside of England and France where she spends time painting. She says that "There is always mood in her pictures, never brooding or ominous but always gentle and thoughtful."
Other than the RA schow, in the last few years, she has also had work in the "Not the RA Show". The list of galleries where her work has been shown reads like a Who's Who, with work being shown in central London and all over the country.
